March has been another exciting month here in the Blueberry learning community with much learning both inside and outside of the school walls! While it’s difficult to capture all that happened in one post I would like to share a few highlights with each of you.
Students in grades 7-9 were treated with a Much Music Video Dance on March 22nd and invited guests from Duffield School and Wabamun School. A great time was had by all! Also in grades 7-9 our students traveled to Snow Valley to enjoy a day of skiing and snowboarding with no reported broken limbs! Many of our gr 7-9 students are eagerly anticipating both the Quebec excursion and Vancouver Sun Run coming soon in April.
We are also very proud of our students in grade 6 who celebrated their DARE graduation on March 22nd. We know that this program will serve our kids well in the future.
Our Music program was extremely busy this past month, with our Show Choir doing a fantastic job at the Parkland School Division Choral Celebration and our Choiristers worked with the Memorial Composite High School Music Program.
Also, Blueberry School was very proud to host the Rick Hansen Relay where three students were given the once in a lifetime opportunity to be medal bearers for this 25th anniversary event!
Next, our BLAZE day was again a huge success, with the NED Show and the wrap up to our Jump Rope For Heart campaign entertaining students and parents from our community.
Finally, Blueberry School is extremely proud of our students for their recent recognition in the Rural Crime Watch Poster Contest with 39 students being recognized as local winners, and seven provincial winners from Blueberry School were the most from any school in Alberta!
As we look forward into April, parents of students in grades 7-9 will soon be receiving information about a few changes to our June Awards program which were recently shared at our Blueberry School Council meeting.
I would like to conclude with a friendly reminder that I am always interested to hear the perspectives and insights from our parent community so please call, email, reply to my blog or stop by to see me!
Sincerely,
Mr. S. Patras
Principal, Blueberry School
