Time continues to fly by in the Blueberry Learning Community as we progress towards the conclusion of a fantastic school year. With so much happening in our school during May and June I can really only share a few of the highlights but encourage you to check our school website for information on the various events within the school.
I recently had the opportunity to meet with the Blueberry School Council for the final time this year and feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing group of parents. Not only are the dedicated to supporting Blueberry School, but they are knowledgeable, open to new ideas and willing to provide advice to the administration and staff.
On that same evening I was able to hear about the progress of the Blueberry School Fundraising Committee as we conclude our “Get Your Read On” initiative. The hard work of this group, in addition to the support of our community has led us towards the transformation from a school library to a Learning Commons in Blueberry School. I cannot wait to introduce this amazing new facility to one and all as we move towards a fall 2012 completion.
Also recently, the staff of Blueberry School were able to acknowledge the contributions of our parents with our Parent Appreciation Drive Thru on Wednesday, May 30th. For those dedicated parents who drive their children to and from school each day, we were happy to serve them a Tim Horton’s coffee, a muffin and a small gift as a token of the appreciation we have for the support that they give to our students. We truly could not make a difference without you!
We concluded the month of May by hosting the Elementary Track Meet for students in grades 4-6 from the various schools within Parkland, Evergreen Catholic School Division and a few additional schools. It was amazing to see the initiative taken by some of our staff to plan and execute a successful track meet for approximately 400 students in grades 4-6. I am so proud of the work our staff did and the sportsmanship and athleticism of our students on this great day!
As we look towards June we are excited to for the upcoming grade 9 Farewell Celebration. We are also eagerly anticipating the “Annie” musical production that has been all encompassing for a few dedicated staff members and numerous students in grades 7-9. In addition, our students are excited for the numerous field trips that will be happening everywhere from Fort Edmonton Park to the Spruce Grove movie theatre!
See you in June!
