The month of January has proven to be a busy one in the Blueberry learning community. As is to be expected in a fantastic school such as ours, the students came back to school excited to see their friends and staff members after the Christmas holidays.
The staff of Blueberry School believe that it is important to help our students recognize the supports and opportunities available in their own community. With this in mind, Blueberry students were greeted by staff from the Stony Plain Public Library who were able to share the services and programs that they can offer to our kids.
January also saw a coach from the Alberta Wrestling Association come to Blueberry School to engage our kids from grades 6-9 with some exciting and challenging wrestling activities. It was fantastic to see the energy and smiles from all of our students as they participated, cheered and grappled their way to a fun day!
Our monthly BLAZE day continued to provide energy and enthusiasm to all within the Blueberry learning community. We celebrated our Basketball teams with introductions, a pep rally and several staff and student 3 on 3 games. The students may have held a slight edge on the scoreboard but staff are fairly certain that guest celebrity referee Ms. Smith may have missed a few fouls that cost us the game 🙂
Other events such as PJ Day, and our monthly school spirit day that made January a fun-filled month for one and all. Most recently the Family Movie Night featuring Hotel Transylvania, hosted by the Blueberry School Fundraising Committee (BSFC) in our school gym, provided a great evening for the Blueberry Community. Hundreds of kids and parents joined several staff members for an evening of fun and laughter.
We are looking forward to another great month of fun and learning in February.
