The Month of May has brought with it many exciting learning opportunities to the Blueberry learning community. Gr 5 students had the opportunity to take their learning outside the school walls with their trip to the Bennett Centre as well as connecting the learning in the classroom to their own lives with their annual Heritage Luncheon. Thank you to all of our gr 5 parents who helped make this lunch a great success for our students!
On the topic of fantastic lunches, on behalf of the Blueberry Staff I would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the parents who were able to contribute to help make the annual Staff Appreciation luncheon such a fantastic event again this year. We are very grateful for your support throughout the year and on this special occasion.
Students in grades 4 and 6 were excited this month to participate in the Junior Achievement program. We are eagerly anticipating the results of their project in the weeks to come! Not to be forgotten, our Kindergarten students had a fantastic and fun learning opportunity recently when the “Puppet Lady” and the “Bread Lady” joined them!
Students in grades 7-9 had the opportunity to participate in our school track meet, with many qualifying for the zone track meet and several competing in the division track meet. May also saw the conclusion of our Badminton season where our students competed hard bringing home several medals! We continue to be so proud of the sportsmanship and athleticism of our students who represent our community with pride!
Finally, it is with mixed emotions that I share with you that at the conclusion of this year I will be leaving this amazing learning community and moving to Woodhaven Middle School as their principal. While change always presents an exciting opportunity, I will certainly miss the fantastic students, staff and parents who have so openly welcomed me over the past 3 years to Blueberry. I feel extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to lead and learn within this team and will always remember my time here with a smile.
Experience has shown me that you will welcome, with open arms, Mrs. Sheryl Bridgeman as your new principal. I know she will continue the great work that our students and staff are already engaged in.
Sincerely,
Mr. S. Patras
Principal, Blueberry School
