In this week’s Monday Memo I touched on a few activities from last week and looked ahead to a lot of action in the week to come.
Our “shout outs” for the week went to Mr. Winkel, Mr. MacLachlan and Mr. Millard for hosting the Senior Badminton Challenge on Friday and Saturday. These three teachers gave more of their own time so that our students could compete against Badminton players from Stony Plain Central, Gramina School and Greystone Centennial Middle School. Our students and teachers made us proud yet again!
We also acknowledged Mr. Teliani and Mrs. Bradshaw for giving their time on Saturday to host the “Slush Run” for Vancouver Sun Runners throughout Parkland School Division.
Not to be forgotten, we thanked our Health Team (Mrs. L. Lyster; Mrs. Langlois and Mrs. Jacobs) for putting together a great day of learning on the topic of Human Sexuality.
As we look towards this week, we are excited for over 20 of our students who will be heading off to Vancouver for the Sun Run. We are also excited for the Student vs Staff Hockey Game on Thursday and for the upcoming Jr. Badminton Challenge next weekend. Lots on the go at Woodhaven this week!
Mrs. Kronewitt and I are looking forward to the opportunity to continue our professional growth this week as we meet with all of the administrators and Superintendents for our monthly lead team meeting. I am also anticipating the opportunity to renew my First Aid this week to continue to support the needs of our students and staff.
Finally, each week we conclude with a professional learning opportunity for our staff. This week we changed things up just a bit to acknowledge a very talented young man in our school who was featured in this article in The Edmonton Journal. It’s always exciting to see our kids sharing their learning beyond the walls of our school.
That’s the week at a Glance for Woodhaven Middle School.
Sincerely,
Mr. S. Patras
Principal, Woodhaven Middle School
